RUNAWAY league leaders Morganians secured their 18th consecutive league win with a crushing win over their lowly neighbours, writes Phil Curd.

After a narrow 25-24 win against Midsomer Norton the previous week, Morgs came flying out of the blocks and bearded speedster Martyn Keep scored from their first attack.

By the end of the first half, Morgs were 59-0 ahead, courtesy of tries from Jordan Mein (4), Keep (2), Lewis Wood, Sam Bullion and Jack Criddle.

Morgs would have scored more, but for questionable kicking in midfield.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, but as Albion players began to wilt under constant pressure, Morgs capitalised.

Mein crossed twice more, followed by Bullion, Stef Pierce, Dave Harris and Rory McGeown.

With 63 minutes gone and the score 101-0, the referee saw that Albion had capitulated and on the grounds of safety and in keeping with the hard but fair nature of the contest, blew for time.

Mein’s six tries and 13 conversions resulted in a personal tally of 56 points.

Next week Morgs travel to Burnham-on-Sea 2nds and will expect a tough contest against the side fourth in the table.
