RICHARD Huish College in Taunton has agreed to sponsor North Petherton RFC for the 2014-15 season.

The partnership aims to forge greater links between the club and the college to enhance the game at a local level.

Huish has run successful Rugby Performance Sport programmes for a number of years as part of the nationally recognised sports enrichment provision at the college.

The programme provides students with the opportunity to pursue their academic studies in further education alongside a comprehensive and specialised sports programme.

The programme includes practical coaching, strength and conditioning, sport psychology workshops, physiotherapy access and weekly fixtures.

Additional provision for those players who wish to develop further is provided under highly qualified coaching staff.

Huish will have a presence in the club’s programmes and pitchside advertising banners.

Principal John Abbott said: “We’re delighted to have this partnership with North Petherton RFC and believe it will be mutually beneficial for both us and the club.”

Jerry Upfield, past president of North Petherton RFC, said: “We hope this sponsorship will forge greater links with the college community in future and enhance rugby at a local level.”
