NORTH Petherton head into the New Year well poised to launch a push for promotion into National League 3SW.

Pethy are currently joint second in Tribute South West One West as the league takes a break for Christmas, just two points behind leaders St Austell and level on points with Cleve.

Tito Elisara’s side have won 11 of their 14 league games so far this season, picking up an impressive nine bonus points in the process – only Camborne (10) have picked up more.

New captain Sam Williams has been influential throughout, with the hooker putting in a number of match-winning performances for the Beggars Brook based club.

Pethy begin the New Year with a trip Sidmouth on January 4, before hosting fourth-placed Hornets the following week (January 11).

They take on St Austell in the final game of the season on April 12, in what could prove to be a title decider.
