North Petherton RFC II 16, Wellington RFC II 11 NORTH Petherton battled to a hard-fought victory over Wellington on Saturday.

Wellington took the lead when their centre crashed over early on, but Pethy levelled things up when Pettingell touched down.

Errors dominated the remainder of the half and whilst Pethy were more often than not the dominant side, the half Throughout the second half errors and dubious decisions led to a slightly more fragmented match.

Pethy continued to boss the scrums and running play, maintaining the upper hand throughout.

Pethy moved into a lead mid-way through the half as Cook touched down following yet another strong catch and drive from the home pack.

A couple of penalties to both sides kept the score line interesting.

Wellington then scored from a quickly taken penalty to make the score 16-11 with a minute to go - and that is how it remained.

Next week Pethy travel to Clevedon, who sit one place above in the league in second spot. Pethy beat Clevedon twice last season but this will be a different encounter and rumours of some players returning to the fold bodes well for the journey North.
