North Petherton 1st XV 24, Clevedon 15

NORTH Petherton recorded their eighth victory in 11 matches with victory over Clevedon at Beggar Brook on Saturday.

Tries from man-of-the-match Sam Williams, Jacob Beleski and Harry Roberts sealed the win for Pethy, while Roberts also added nine points from the boot. The home side dominated the opening exchanges and took the lead when Sam Williams powered his way over from close range.

Fly-half Beleski was soon in on the act as he ghosted over after exploiting a hole in the Clevedon defence.

Clevedon hit back with a Mike Taylor penalty and a try from Tom Thie, after good work from full-back Mike Lowis.

Harry Roberts then scored Pethy’s third when he got on the end of a pass from Gavin Hancock to send Pethy into half-time with 21-10 lead.

Roberts extended the lead shortly after the break but, from here, Clevedon upped their game and piled pressure on the Pethy defence.

The home side were soon reduced to 13 men following two yellow cards and the away side capitalised with a try through scrum-half George Towers.

Clevedon should probably have scored a third but Lowis knocked the ball on over the Pethy line.

North Petherton’s resilient defence held firm to record another win and keep the pressure on the league leaders.

l They travel to Coney Hill next Saturday (November 30), ko 2.30pm.
