Bridgwater and Albion III 27, Somerton 16


Bridgwater battled through wet conditions on Saturday for a well-deserved win against Somerton at home.

Somerton opened scoring at 25 minutes with a penalty, but Bridgwater soon came back with a try from Nick Frost, which was not converted.

Then, at 40 minutes into the first half, Barry Hobbs crashed over for a try, which was successfully converted by John Frost.

In the opening minutes of the second half, Lee Stanley added to the scoreboard with a try for Bridgwater.

Somerton picked up a few more points with another penalty, but Bridgwater’s Barry Hobbs replied, his hard work paid off with another try.

More points came for the home side 25 minutes into the second half with a try from Karl Stukes. Five minutes later Somerton won another penalty – but Bridgwater finished the scoring with a converted try before the final whistle.

Jack Smith said: “It was a very good game. We are friends with Somerton, but for the game they were in different coloured shirts and were the enemy.

“They put in 100% despite wet conditions and I am very proud of them.”
