South West One (W)
Launceston 19, Bridgwater and Albion 13

BRIDGWATER and Albion put in one of their best away performances of the season when they travelled to Cornwall but it was Launceston who claimed the victory, writes Richard Walsh.

Playing with the wind behind them, Launceston took the lead from the kick off after winger Rowley scored a try that Pearce converted.

On 10 minutes Bridgwater were awarded two penalties, both of which they opted to kick to touch, as a result of which Will Monro danced to the line from 22 metres - Kyran Devitt converted to level the scores.

Bridgwater were reduced to 14 men when they had Jay Owens yellow carded, and from the resultant penalty the home side scored a try through Weston that Pearce converted.

The visitors reduced the arrears when Devitt slotted home a penalty on 25 minutes to make the score 14-10, which is how it remained until half time.

Launceston came out strongly after the restart and scored an unconverted try through Crabb on 56 minutes.

Once again Bridgwater came back well and, after 10 minutes, Devitt kicked his second penalty of the game.

For the rest of the game it was Bridgwater who were very much in charge.

Approaching full time they found themselves camped on the Launceston line, but despite their best efforts they were unable to score as it ended 19-13.

Bridgwater and Albion: Matthew Ranson, Samuel Adcock, Craig Blyde, Tom Lewis, Arron Kelly, Ethan Trebble-Westlake, George Sluman, Brad Talbot; Tom Fournier, Luke Plummer, Joe Clark, Jay Owens, Ryan Barnett, Kyran Devitt, Will Monro. Replacements - Matt Hastie and John Hill (both used) and Brett Shaw (not used)

Elsewhere in the division, North Petherton picked up an impressive 28-26 victory at home to Okehampton.

Pethy had won just once all season prior to the match while Okehampton were flying high in the top four, but the hosts were able to spring a surprise and climb above Matson to third bottom.
