BRIDGWATER & Albion head coach Simon Morrell was very pleased with his side's performance and victory against Keynsham in South West 1 West last weekend.

He said: “It was a brilliant win and there was no doubting the team’s commitment.

“Even with a side that is still far from full strength, we beat a team in mid-table.

“We are not going to overreact, because the serious pressure will come on us when we are full strength and we take on an Exeter Uni or Drybrook, which [will be] a true benchmark of where we are.

“The 230 that came to the Friends of Bridgwater lunch were looking forward to it... so I am really pleased that we played an attractive brand of rugby with plenty of endeavour and commitment.”

Last Saturday saw Craig Blyde sustain an injury and Alan Roberts break his wrist, while Adam Coneybeare has a serious shoulder injury.

Tomorrow, Albion head west to face Cornish side Launceston, with Morrell saying: “This is an ideal fixture for us because we are desperate to topple one of the big boys off their perch and Launceston are third.

“We certainly don’t fear them, and we will go there and give it a good crack.”

TOMORROW'S other fixtures include North Petherton against Okehampton, also in South West 1 West, a match which pits 12th against fourth.

In Somerset Premier, Bridgwater & Albion 2nds aim to bounce back from last Saturday's 107-0 crushing at Wiveliscombe, as they host Nailsea & Backwell.

Somerset 1 sides Morganians and North Petherton 2nds are away to Old Sulian and Crewkerne, respectively, while Bridgwater & Albion 3rds are at Chard 2nds tonight.
