THIS weekend saw a great night of boxing in Camborne, with several Sydenham ABC members involved.

First up was Will Hall in his second skills bout, against a taller opponent.

The first round consisted of jab only, followed by two open rounds where Hall could practise his footwork defence and combos.

Second up was David Goodwin for his fifth bout.

He entered the ring with confidence and the two lads instantly got to it, Goodwin landing some very powerful upper cuts.

Unfortunately it wasn’t quite enough, and resulted in a split decision to the Camborne boxer.

Third to fight was William Marles; this was his fifth bout, following three losses.

Marles has been training hard at the gym, and he put everything he’s learned into action against a very powerful young boxer.

He stayed calm, kept control and won the bout on a split decision.
Kieran Smith was up next for his debut bout.

He showed no nerves and it was hard to believe it was his first bout.

He maintained a high work rate against a very strong opponent, and after a very close fight again it went to Camborne on a split decision.

Fifth was Casey Thompson in his second bout, having waited until 11pm.

He kept it long using his jab and landing a couple of powerful right hands on his opponent.

The bout was stopped towards the end of the first round by the ref due to Thompson taking a barrage of body shots and appearing to be winded.

All lads showed great courage and did their club proud.
Sydenham ABC’s next show is on April 28 at the Canalside in Bridgwater
