Somerset Premier Division
Saturn 23, Tomahawks 81

A YOUTHFUL Bridgwater Saturn side took to the court against Tomahawks.

Saturn got off to a slow start despite some great defensive work from Eve Jenner (GK) and Aiste Mockeliunaite (GD) and tips from Ellie Schofield (C), and struggled to hold their own against the experienced side from Paulton ending the first quarter 21-8 down.

Going into the second quarter, Saturn struggled to bring the ball down the court as, despite great movement from Jessie Woodbury (GA), the team couldn’t place the ball.

The third quarter brought changes in the attacking end of the court, and there was super play from Lauren Cook (C) feeding into Maddie Kennard (GA). Abbie Newton (GD) got some amazing tips, resulting in goals for Saturn, but they remained well behind going into the final quarter.

In the final quarter, Hannah Sayer (WA) worked down the court and into the shooters with precision.

Saturn kept giving it their all against an experienced team who were comfortable winners on the day.

Somerset Division 2
Venus 36, Rubies 54

VENUS got the first goal against Sydenham Rubies, and debutant Jess Chee (WA) and Elaine Bowerman (C) put in great feeds.

Sharon Ethridge (GS) and Izzy Innalls (GA) were on great shooting form as Venus ended the first quarter 15-10 up.

Rubies took this chance to change tactics, and narrowly held on to their lead thanks to great inceptions from Ashlea Slater (GK) and Chris Durant (GD).

Venus bought on Becky Kennard at GD, with Durant moving to WD, but couldn’t stop Rubies pulling away to end the third quarter at 40-30.

With Durant back at GD and Tiffany Brice back on at WD, Venus made some great interceptions in the circle and displayed great shooting but couldn’t catch Rubies.
