BRIDGWATER Swimming Club put in another solid performance during November in the National Arena Swimming League Round 2 Gala.

The club went into round two in 12th place in the league, knowing that four out of the six teams taking part were higher than them in the league table, which would make the gala a highly competitive affair.

However, Bridgwater were boosted by the return of several swimmers to the team which gave the club confidence of a good result.

The heightened competitiveness was proven early on, with Bridgwater’s opening win taking place in event six – the boys 13 and under medley relay – thanks to Josh Richards, Ben Towells, Michal Kucia, and Oskar Borowski.

Next to win was Oliver Rowe in the 10/11 years 50m Backstroke in event 12, and Leon Crawley then followed this up with another Backstroke win in the boys 15 and under 100m event.

Max Head later added to the wins in event 28, the 10/11 years 50 Breaststroke.

Rowe then proved how competitive Bridgwater’s emerging swimmers really are, by wining another 10/11 years event, this time the 50 Freestyle.

The final win of the evening for Bridgwater went to the boys 13/u freestyle relay, which again saw Richards, Towells, Kucia and Borowski take to the pool with distinction.

The final points were Poole 261, Tiverton 194, Kingsbridge Kingfishers 173, Bridgwater 163, Soundwell 132 and West Wilts Force Five 114.

The result sees Bridgwater climb the Division 2 league table by two places, up to 10th, another new high since the club’s return to the National League.
