After a week without a match, Enmore Park Seniors were back on the fairways with a three-match programme.

First up was an away trip to the ever-popular Bristol and Clifton course where, somewhat surprisingly, they came away victorious, 4½ matches to 3½.

Kevin Lewis with Mike Cavill (6&5) and Mike Taylor with Ray Hancock (5&3) were the pick of the winners, while Steve Lukins with Brian Parker (3&2) and Doug Read with David Brown (2&1) were the other outright winners, captain David Pascoe with Tony Pomeroy securing the important half point.

While the gardeners smiled the golfers groaned, when long overdue rain curtailed the home fixture with Oake Manor.

Most groups played nine holes or more, but the persistent heavy downpours saw the match abandoned with the captains on the 12th.

Finally a trip across the county border to Honiton finished the week with a 4-2 reverse.

Captain Pascoe with Brown (3&2) and Read with Keith Norcutt (2&1) were the two victorious pairings.

ENMORE’S David Dixon gained his second triumph in PGA West Region four competitions this season, achieving a one-stroke win over Adam Frayne (Yelverton) in the annual Carlyon Bay pro-am.

He started the year with victory at Minchinhampton, but is seeking a return to the European Tour via the Challenge Tour.

Dixon shot a five-under-par 67 over the hill-top Cornwall course, as even a double bogey at the second failed to derail his round - he followed with eight birdies in 14 holes before his only other error in the 17th.

In the team competition, Dixon’s Black Horses finished second on 127 points.
