ENMORE Park Golf Club captain Neil Whisler had a superb Captain’s Day, with tropical weather and the course in championship condition.

A 180-strong field fought for the Captains Putter Trophy, with the leading lady being Charlotte Warren with 48 points.

Division 1 was topped by Lee Lewis, on 39 points, ahead of Paul Howlett with 38.

The winner of the Captains Putter for Division 2 was Mick Bird, with an excellent 42 points, with Glen Sheddon (37 points) second.

In the Tuesday Club Night, the in-form Dan Andison, partnering Angie Bowden and Danny O’Loughlin, won again after scoring 80 points (-8).

The runners-up were A. Clapp, G. Cook and D. Winn, with 78.

ENMORE Ladies have played two of their four Wessex League matches and have enjoyed the games.

The match against Burnham and Berrow was closely fought, but after a slight administrative error Enmore lost 3&4.

The match against Taunton & Pickeridge was played at home, and Enmore won 5-2 after many of the matches went to the 18th.

The ladies had a great day out in a friendly match against Mendip Ladies at Mendip Golf Club.

The weather was kind to all and Enmore won the match.

ENMORE Park Seniors played host to their near neighbours from the Burnham & Berrow club, a match which essentially pitted parkland golfers against links players.

Captain David Pascoe was a happy man at the conclusion, with Enmore finishing satisfying victors by 5½ matches to 2½.

Pascoe lead the way with a good win alongside Mike Cavill, by 4 & 3.

The other winning pairs were Graham Pain with Phil Wood and Mike Perry with John Rigler, both by 3&2, Mike Sullivan with Peter Scott (2 up), and Jeff Saunders with John Earp (1 up).

John Newell and Martin Watson (half) completed the scoring.

Vice-captain Graham Pain was in the hot seat for the away fixture at the Sherborne course, and hot it was in more ways than one.

The temperature soared and the home players were in hot form, winning 6-2.

Enmore’s only outright win was by Tim Smith with John Rigler (2 & 1), while Paul Waplington with John Earp, and Mike Perry with Steve Lukins, both gained half points.

A small Enmore consolation was when Seniors press officer Roger Anniss took home the bottle of wine for the nearest the pin prize.
Enmore Avalon Seniors remain unbeaten this year after beating Worlebury away 3-2.

And they produced another quality performance at Cannington, in a clean sweep, with some close games closed out on the 18th green.

Clutch putt specialists Jeff Saunders and Chris Marsh holed from 60 feet to win at the last.
