Somerset County Premier
Middlezoy Rovers 3, Shepton Mallet Reserves 2

AN INJURY-TIME winner from full-back Charlie Lintell gave Middlezoy all three points after they twice came from behind in an eventful second half at The Aerodrome.

The sides went in goalless at the break after an even first half and chances were at a premium with two well organised sides cancelling each other out for the most part.

A Shepton free-kick from the edge of the box on 41 minutes saw them almost take the lead but Greg Turner managed to tip the ball round the post at full stretch.

After the break it was the visitors who took the lead following a good cross from the right, Conrad Peck with the finish from close range.

The introduction of Carl Tucker on 55 minutes to the Middlezoy midfield proved pivotal.

On the hour mark he blasted home an equaliser following a scramble in the Shepton box.

Tucker then went from hero to villain as he tangled with Shepton forward Liam Hodges and the referee pointed to the spot.

Scott Newton converted the subsequent spotkick hard and low into the corner, although Turner did get the faintest of touches to it as it travelled past him.

With Shepton now intent on defending their lead, Middlezoy were enjoying more of the possession and with two strikers now stretching the visiting defence, the midfield were given more time and space.

Shaun Turner's header from a setpiece was cleared off the line and Dan Luce fired wide on the half-volley as the pressure continued to build.

With five minutes left to play, Jamie Temlett delivered an in-swinging cross from the left, picking out James Conway who had ghosted into the box unnoticed from midfield and his diving header across the keeper found the bottom corner for a second equaliser.

Into stoppage time and, with both sides seemingly settling for a well deserved point, a half-clearance fell to Lintell and from fully 30 yards out he unleashed a screamer into the top corner to win all three points for Middlezoy.
