ASSISTANT coach for the England Colleges Football Association (ECFA) team and Team BC Women’s Football Head Coach, Trevor Jenkins, saw his side draw with Wales at Dragon Park, Newport.

This is the start of a string of fixtures for the England Colleges side as they prepare for their tour in Portugal next month.

Jenkins, who is UEFA B Licence qualified, is also head coach at Yeovil Town Football Club’s new educational partner, Bridgwater College, where he works alongside Welsh International, Nicola Cousins.

He will be working alongside a UEFA A License Head Coach at ECFA, with their first national camp in December 2015 running at the Etihad Campus, home of Manchester City FC.

In their first fixture the ECFA side comfortably beat the Independent Schools FA side 5-0 at Charterhouse, winning the Future Elite Sports Shield in the process.

Their second game was a much tighter affair as the England side took the lead three times during the game, but could not keep the home side at bay as Wales pulled level half-way through the second half bringing the score to 3-3.

Both teams chased the win but the Anglo Shield was shared by the two sides at full-time.

Jenkins was excited about the performance despite the result he said: “This was only the second game the girls have played together and are still learning how each other play.

"It takes sides a good period of time to find their feet, they put together some quality football today and we can take that as a huge positive as we continue our fixtures next month.”

National football development manager, Lauren O’Sullivan said: “Every England player gave 110% today and can be incredibly proud of their performance. International games of this quality will be a tremendous learning curve for the players.

"The most pleasing thing about today is that we produced a magnificent team performance in both games with large spells of possession and chances, and we’ll take this belief now into the remaining fixtures.”
