Somerset Division One West

Cleeve West Town 0 Middlezoy Rovers 3

MIDDLEZOY chalked up their tenth win of the season against a decent Cleeve side who probably deserved something more from the game.

Craig Wright scored either side of the break and a late Jed Williams goal made sure of the points on a bobbly pitch.

The home side were far superior in the opening exchanges, with Zoy struggling to maintain any possession.

Greg Turner was rounded on 18 minutes but the Cleeve striker hit his effort over the unguarded goal on the stretch.

Turner then made an excellent save to deny the same player the opener after Lance Turner had miscued his clearance.

It was lucky for the visitors that the centre back combination of Jake Horsey and Tom Brown were in fine form, with both involved in critical interceptions on more than one occasion.

Middlezoy found their feet after 20 minutes and began to enjoy more of the ball.

Jed Williams had the first real Middlezoy chance, but ballooned his effort over when well placed.

The opener came on 28 minutes after the home keeper dropped a Lance Turner cross, leaving Wright a simple task for his first of the afternoon.

Jed Williams then had the ball in the net just before the break, but was flagged for offside by a fair Cleeve official.

The second half started where the first had ended and Wright doubled the tally early on, finishing well following a run from midfield by Dan Luce.

Cleeve then had a stone wall penalty waved away by the referee, when Lance Turner dragged his man to the floor and following the clearance Adam Prescott was badly tackled as tempers flared.

Cleeve then hit the bar from a long range effort as they began to look dangerous again, but the game was over shortly after when Jed Williams found the net from a tight angle from a Craig Wright pass.
