Jupiter 49 Crossbow 56

Jupiter slipped to a narrow defeat at the hands of top-of-the-table Crossbow in their final game before Christmas.

Having played them for their first game of the season and lost 60-38, Jupiter set out in search of a different outcome.

Accurate shooting from Gabby Nardiello (GA) meant that Jupiter kept Crossbow close by and finished the first quarter 14-16 down.

Going into the second half three down, Jupiter continued to put the pressure on, which resulted in well-timed interceptions from player of the match Beckie Cowley (GD).

Despite pushing to the end Jupiter were unable to close the deficit and Crossbow gained an extra four goals to win 56-49.

Venus 32 Bishops 18

Venus were eager to finish the year on high with a win away to Bishops and went out with great intent from the very first whistle.

Smothering defence and great communication from the defensive trio of Emily Harwood (GK), Hana Middleton (GD) and Bex Dunn (WD) led to numerous interceptions and more opportunities at goal.

Thanks to some good shooting and rebounding Venus finished the half 17-10 up, and they extended their lead to 24-14 in the third.

The last quarter saw a great team effort as Venus finished the game victorious with a score of 32-18.

Mercury 19 Thorns 21

Mercury started the first quarter with great defence from GK Abbey Alderwick and GD Eve Jenner, who made some flying interceptions and read the game well.

Against the wind, shooters Phoebe Alderwick (GS) and Kia Jenner (GA) struggled to shoot accurately, but precise passing from Claire Murrey (C) on debut, saw them end the second quarter two goals down 9-11.

Entering the third quarter, despite great effort from all players, Mercury just couldn't quite catch Thorns and finished the quarter with a score of 17-13.

In the last quarter, Mercury went out fighting and with some accurate shooting from both shooters and strong passes from all the centre court players, Mercury were got close but couldn’t quite close the deficit.
