TWO South West cuemen have progressed to the next stage of the 100-year-old English Amateur Championship.

Mark Turner and Nick Sully booked trips to Dunstable in January for the last-16 south via a qualifying tournament at Martock Snooker Centre, Somerset.

Turner (Bridgwater) who was one victory short of qualifying last season, had his scoring boots on in his two matches.

He compiled a 116 while accounting for James Height (Shepton Mallet) 4-0 and added a 71 in his 4-1 victory over Jamie Dykes (Street).

Sully (Beaminster, Dorset), who had to battle through a preliminary round, beat William Martin (Glastonbury) 4-2, Nick Stoodley (Shepton Mallet) 4-1 and Aaron Cook 4-3 (Gloucester).

The last-16 south of the competition that was launched in 1916 is at Dunstable Snooker Club on Saturday, January 23, 2016.
