TOP of A Division New Foresters B hosted multileague winning side, Cobblestones A, in what was to be a very close match in the Bridgwater Town Skittles League.

The visitors opened with spares from Phil Ashurst and captain Robin Slade, pulling 11 on Foresters’ hand of 62.

The lead reversed in the second hand with Mike Davey and James Puddy both having spares of their own, pulling 12 on The Cobblestones’ hand to lead by one.

By the final hand, Cobblestones needed 88 to win. Al Richards got the team off to a flying start with a 16 flopper, later backed up with a spare from Paul Trunks and another flopper, this time coming from Robin Slade and Cobblestones won by two.

In B Division, White Hart A travelled to the Great Western Club, who opened with a 65, a spare coming from Tommy Trunks.

White Hart lost six on their first hand, but backed up opening hand with a 68 pulling 13. White Hart’s lead was reduced to three entering the fifth hand, however, Hart won the remaining hands eventually building a lead of eight.

Sydenham Centre A travelled to the Newmarket, whose opening hand of 61 pulled 5 pins, a spare coming from Will Morris in C Division.

Jason Mears for the Sydenham hit a small sparein the second hand allowing Sydenham to pull two back but Newmarket stormed to 15 in front, after spares from Nathan Parsons and John Patterson.

Newmarket hit a finishing score of 64 leave a total of 69 for the win. Sydenham’s Rich Date hit a spare, but soon built as successive players missed opportunities to pick up pins.

Last man on Keith Cann needed a 12 to win, first ball seven, second ball perfect running two, third ball four and Sydenham won by two.
