ENMORE Seniors ended their summer season of matches on a high note.

With captain elect Paul Waplington in charge, Enmore hosted the seniors from Cricket St. Thomas and ran out convincing winners by six games to two.

There were two ‘dog licence’ wins by Kevin Tutill with Jim Smith and Peter Attwood with Ray Lukeski (both by 7and6) - other scores were Paul Waplington with David Pascoe (6and5), Tony Snelling with John Newell (4and2), Gordon Tizzard with Derek Kelly (1up), whilst Ken Woodland with Ray Hancock and Tim Smith with Jim Potticary both registered half points.

The only group not to register were John Rigler with Roger Anniss who lost to the last putt on the final green.

The 4BBB Turkey Troy was won by D Pascoe and I Edwards with 42 points, one ahead of E Boyce and C Marsh in second. P Roderick and R Tracey had the best of the 40 points to finish third.

On November 1, the gents played their Turkey Trot on Sunday with Dylan Nyce leading the way with 41 points Terry Warburton won the Seniors’ Turkey Trot with 39 points on November 3.

The next day, the Pro Shop Betterball event was won by Chris Hannam and Golf Di Dee with 43 points, two ahead of Karen Flannagan and Madge Wakefield in second.

n BYRON ‘Buzz’ Lismore produced the standout round of the day in the John Smiths Trophy played on a wet and windy Saturday morning at Brean.

He scored a massive 48 points, which was 10 better than anyone else could manage, and he became the player everyone wanted to be drawn with in the Blind Pairs format.

He also saw his handicap drop by almost five shots as a result of his super round in the dismal conditions.

Sometimes with this format the best score of the day doesn’t always win though and one player who knew that well was Steve Jones, who had the best score of the day in the 2014 event but didn’t taste victory.

However this time he was crowned the winner when club captain Stuart Wills drew him out along side the superb Lismore for a winning total of 77 points, five ahead of the rest of the pack.

Runners-up were Barrie Tucker (37) and Jason Kidley (35) on 72 whilst captain Stuart Wills (35) and John Cullinan (33) too third on 68.

Father and son duo of Steve and Alec Bateman teamed up to win the first of the ‘Christmas’ events this year on countback.
