Bridgwater Ladies finally recorded a win in their home game against Sidmouth and Ottery on Saturday.

Bridgwater scored two goals in the first-half and the second-half started with the visitors drawing level with a two goals in quick succession.

Bridgwater worked hard to regain the advantage and it paid off with another three goals, despite a missed opportunity not converting from a penalty flick.

Overall, Bridgwater had control for the majority of the game, including winning several penalty corners.

The final score was 5-2 to Bridgwater, with player of the match going to Jo Bromme, with two of Bridgwater's goals.

BRIDGWATER had a dream a start to this game when within two minutes, Clare Wilson found herself unmarked within the D.

Her shot beat the keeper just inside then post and Bridgwater were one up.

This spurred Bridgwater on to attack continually and Civil Service had a difficult time fending off the Bridgwater forwards.

The home team settled and created their own chances with Bridgwater having to defend their lead.

Both teams had a mixture of youth and experience with the play being evenly spread.

Civil Service equalised shortly after the start of the second half and continued to push for their second goal.

It was Bridgwater who took the lead again however, when a stunned Heather Tinkler saw her shot deflected into the opposition goal.

Bridgwater looked as though they would hold on to the lead but were shocked when the ball ended up in their net.

The umpires however, had spotted an infringement and the goal did not stand.

Bridgwater Mens II 2 Minehead 4

Bridgwater 'A' fought hard against a strong Minehead team, but couldn't turn their fight into a win and ultimately went down 4-2.

Bridgwater started poorly, falling two goals behind very early on.

They did recover, however and proceeded to dominate play for most of the remainder of the first-half.

Thanks to some impressive passing from Scott Mills and Tom Willis, Bridgwater eventually secured a breakthrough from a slightly fortunate Tom Lott.

Bridgwater's second came shortly after from a fast break, smartly crafted by Tom Lott and finished off by Sam Beasley.

Bridgwater started the second-half well, with leading runs from Sean Hedaux, Cam Birch and Beasley.

Bridgwater could not convert their chances though and Minehead were the next to score, against the run of play.

Bridgwater's defence battled hard, however a late goal from Minehead sealed the victory and an unlucky defeat for the Bridgwater team.

Bridgwater Mens V 3 Yeovil & Sherborne IV 8

BRIDGWATER V slumped to a heavy defeat at the hands of Yeovil & Sherborne IV on Saturday.

As normal it seems for this fixture, Bridgwater contrived to give Yeovil a good head start - with the home team five goals up before 15 minutes. Bridgwater had nothing but pride to play for, but they didn't give up and when they strung a pass or two together and created some opportunities.

In the second-half, a couple of short corners came Bridgwater's way - Morrish expertly scoop flicked a shot at the keeper, and the rebound was slotted into the bottom corner.

Next, after a short corner broke down, Kettlewell roofed a shot for Bridgwater's second, nearly scoring again minutes later with direct short corner strike.

There was enough time for Bridgwater to score another as Richards, Court and Coad linked up well - Sweatman and Will Kelly played a sweet one two and Kelly scored.

But Yeovil had already opened up an unassailable lead.
