RAMBLERS of climbed to the top of the pile in Division One of the Uxella Sunday League after beating Cobblestones 5-3 at the weekend.

The results sees Ramblers leapfrog Red Tile, who were in cup action, into top spot.

In Division Two, Rhode Lane Wanderers have gone top on goal difference following Sunday’s 8-1 thrashing of Woolavington.

Huntspill BPH recorded their first win of the season, beating bottom side North Petherton 3-2 – and Spaxton Rangers took a share of the spoils from a 1-1 draw with Puriton, for whom Mike Watss was on target.

First Division side New Foresters beat Cary Swans 4-2 in the Somerset Sunday Challenge Cup – and elsewhere in the competition, Division two’s bottom side Pawlett Rebels were 5-4 winners over Mariners.

Red Tile hammered Red Road Rangers 8-0 in the competition, while Tiger Old Boys were given a walkover by Pen Mill, who were unable to raise a side.

Highburn Athletic were the only Uxella League side to lose in the Challenge Cup, going down 3-2 at home to KW Athletic.

This weekend in Division One, Highburn Athletic take on Red Tile, New Foresters host Pawlett Rebels and Ramblers welcome Tiger Old Boys.

In Division Two, Huntspill Crowns will be hoping to keep the pressure on league leaders Rhode Lane with a victory over Red Road Rangers, while the leaders themselves can retain top spot with a win at home to Puriton.

Stogursey host Huntspill BPH and Woolavington take on struggling North Petherton.
