WITH the sun shining it was a busy but overall successful week for the Enmore Park Ladies.

The Somerset Ladies Past Captains competition was played at Enmore on Monday.

Over 60 ladies played from 14 different clubs and the winners were a home team of Janet Hambly and Betty Edney with 38 points.

There were drinks and homemade cakes halfway all of which were greatly appreciated by the ladies.

Also being played on Monday was a friendly match between Oak and Enmore Park ladies at Oak.

Enmore ladies lost 1.5 to Oak’s 3.5 - Madge Wakefied and Hazel Percy won with Karen Sammons and Di Webster scoring a half.

On Wednesday the final of the Bronze MET Salver was played at Enmore the finish was close, but Enmore Park won with 46 points, Taunton and Pickeridge 44 points and Minehead 36.

Wednesday was a busy day at Enmore with the Jubilee Bowl and Glen Trophy match.

Di Webster won the Jubilee Bowl and Jane Collins won the Glen Trophy. Ist Silver prize to Jane Banks and first Bronze prize to Jane Collins, the Senior prize went to Pat Rogers.

The afternoon Bowmaker Competition was won by Angie Bowden, Pat Rogers, Bernie Dennis and 2’s Judy Hancock.

Thursday saw an interleague match at Wheathill - there were two inaugural players for this interleague match, Jane Collins and Anne Elliott Rose, who both won their matches, but overall Enmore lost 5-2 to Wheathill.

Betty Edney and Janet Hambly won the Past Somerset Ladies Captain's event held at Enmore this Monday.

Enmore romped home to a 4-1 win over Stockwood Vale in the Avalon League – 5 and 4 victories from Henderson and Maclennan and also Cook and Brewer.

Whisler and Brown, and Crook and Ashton won 1 up.

Enmore Park’s men’s team had their first friendly match of the season last Saturday at Minehead when they were beaten 6½ - 3½ by their hosts.

In sunny but windy conditions, captain Nigel Musgrave-Brown and his partner Nick Laing survived a late scare to beat Minehead’s Captain Phil Bowden and Mike Shortland 2 and 1.

Other Enmore winners were Terry Hogan and Paul Henson and Paul Martin and Ian Lane.

The half point was won by Alan Vickery and Andy Atkinson.

In mixed golf news, Fiona and Carl Dobson won the Edward Cup final – while in the senior section, Enmore Park maintained their ability to win at home when Minehead & West Somerset visited Enmore.
