Gems 56, Sharks 22

GEMS cruised to a comfortable victory over Sharks on Saturday.

Gems take advantage of early possession and took a 10-5 lead after the first quarter - and the second quarter saw Gems dominate the game, with much of the time spent on the attack.

Kelly Thorne and Danielle Keirle worked the ball down the court well, with great support by Amy Witcombe and Beth Fella.

By half time Gems moved further into the lead, 27-10.

Gems were still playing well with the whole team working hard, enabling the shooters Justine Pearn and Hannah Clapp to take charge of the circle.

The defence continued to hamper their players and Gems decisively won the game by way of a great team effort.Player of the match and umpires player of the match both went to Beth Fella.

Emeralds 25, Dolphins 52

EMERALDS suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Dolphins on Saturday.

At the end of the first quarter the score line was 7-14, but with a positive attitude, Emeralds started the second quarter with a strong fighting spirit, which reflected in their game play and increasing of the score line.

They continued strongly in defence and contested the ball with good centre court play to feed to the attackers, but unfortunately Dolphins continued to increase their score finishing the game 52-25.

Rubies 23, Quantock 40

RUBIES gave a good fight for the whole game with some fantastic interceptions from Rhianne Lee and Sandy Hocking, who went on to be player of the match.

Even though Rubies fought hard to the end the score was 23-40 to Quantock.

Sapphires 39, Vivary 36

SAPPHIRES started the game well and good shooting by Laura Coombes and Lynne Cornish put them three goals front at half-time.

In the third quarter, Vivary picked up their game and put pressure on sapphires and ended the quarter 29-29.In the final quarter, Sapphires had a tough 15 minutes ahead and with great interceptions by all and a strong team performance they were able to win their first game in the Premier League.
