Jupiter 58, Devizes 29

JUPITER strengthened their position at the top of the table with an emphatic 58-29 victory over Devizes on Sunday.

They started steady and managed to edge in front with a five goal lead at the end of the first quarter.

Jupiter stepped it up a notch in the second quarter, and with impeccable shooting from Paige Davey who capitalised on turnovers they were able to end the first half 27-15.

Changes to centre court for the third quarter created movement for Jupiter, allowing them to play some fast paced netball and extend their lead even further going into the final leg.

Another change for the last push and Jupiter kept giving.

Defensive duo of Beckie Cowley and player of the match Lisa Lukins restricted Devizes to only four goals, ending the game with an impressive win.

Saturn 41, Hovelands 46

SATURN slipped to a narrow defeat at Hovelands on Saturday.

Hovelands started well feeding the ball into their tall shooter and with good shooting accuracy, however Saturn were still in the game with the first quarter ending 15-10.

Saturn pulled the score back to within a couple of goals, but they couldn't maintain this and in the end lost 46-41, narrowly missing out on the extra point for getting within five goals.

The votes for player of the match were split between Becky Palmer at GA, Karis Holleron at WA and Emma Reynolds at C, with Imma Matchem at GD getting the other vote.

Hovelands gave their vote to Becky Palmer for her accurate shooting, often from long range.

Neptune 26, Claremont 44

NEPTUNE struggled at the start against an unbeaten Claremont, finishing the first quarter nine goals down.

A quick change around saw them manage to draw the next two quarters, however the damage had been done in the first quarter.

Player of the match was Lucy Brown.

Venus 37, Spears 30

FROM the start, Venus played positive netball – moving and passing at pace and driving into the shooting circle to end the first quarter in the lead 9-7.

In the second quarter, defence trio of Emily Harwood (GK), Hana Middleton (GD) and Mary King (WD) came to the fore.

They worked tirelessly to harry, block and intercept many a Spears attack and drive Venus forward.

In the third quarter, the fluidity of the Venus attack returned with Olivia Shorthouse (C) and Hannah Setter (WA) making probing passing around the shooting circle.

In the final Quarter the players of the match, Darcie Dunn (GA) & Paige Langdon sealed victory by showing excellent shooting from different parts of the circle.

Mars 34, Queensway 37

THIS match was what can only be described as a tenacious battle between an experienced Queensway and a very young Mars team featuring six U16 players.

The Mars team fought hard, with every quarter seeing Queensway pull ahead, only for Mars to fight back again.

Interceptions from both teams kept the score line tight, however Queensway unfortunately pulled away with Mars not having enough time to bring it back.

Player of the match was Cerys Ethridge.
