TWO members of Quayside Trampoline and Gymnastics Club, based in Bridgwater, have been celebrating another set of amazing results.

Lucy Vaz and Talia Macrides travelled to Oxford to represent their individual local Weston schools, taking part in the South of England Zonal Schools Trampoline Competition held at the White Horse Leisure Centre in Abingdon, at the weekend.

Both young trampoline gymnasts had qualified to this second round of the National schools Trampoline Championships, where young people from schools across the country had competed for a place in their regions back in December.

Nine-year-old Lucy, who was representing St Mark’s Primary School, completed two lovely routines, finishing in fifth place as one of the youngest gymnasts in the Under-11 Girls Intermediate category.

At just eight, Talia, who represented St Anne’s Primary School, completed her two beautiful routines and was rewarded with a place on the podium in third place, with an invitation through to the prestigious Schools National Final to be held in Birmingham on March 14.

Ex-Great Britain Senior Women’s Trampolinist, Aurora Necco, who is Talia’s mum and their team coach from Quayside T&GC, said: “Both girls competed brilliantly and supported each other as they are firm friends both on and off the trampoline.

“I am obviously very proud of Talia as competing as the youngest performer and coming third against girls up to three years older than her is quite nerve- wracking but she kept her cool.

“We are now looking forward to going to the National Finals in a few weeks’ time.”
