Bridgwater Saturn 28, Newton 42

WITH three of the usual line-up unavailable, Saturn travelled to Sherborne to take on Newton, of Yeovil.

Newton came out hard and while Saturn tried to settle with their new team, Newton took this opportunity to take a nine-goal lead.

The second-quarter saw Darcie Dunn take to the court as WD and, despite numerous interceptions, Saturn were still struggling to catch up.

During the second-half a change in the attacking end saw Dunn sisters Morganne and Darcie shoot together.

This change, along with brilliantly timed and accurate feeds from player-of-the-match WA Karis Holleron and C Rach Simpson allowed Saturn to draw the quarter 9-9, but it was not enough to catch Newton.

Neptune 27, Hendford 17

A NEW Neptune line-up started evenly at Yeovil against Hendford.

They settled in the second-quarter and excellent movement and feeding of balls by (WD) Julie Mclean saw Neptune lead at half-time 14-7.

In the final quarter, Sally Haysham (GD) made interceptions which helped Neptune restrict Hendford to scoring just one goal.

Venus 23, Reckleford 34

VENUS took an early lead with excellent shooting from Sophie Cornish and Cerys Ethridge.

The Yeovil team quickly got into their stride and edged head to finish the first quarter 11-7.

There were several outstanding interceptions from the dynamic duo of Mary King and Saskia Middleton, some amazing athletic and graceful movement from the very talented young player Emily Rossiter.

Player of the match was Mary King.

Mars 48, Minstrels 33

MARS stormed into the first quarter, with Laura Gibson (WD) Chloe Trout (C) and Olivia Shorthouse (WA) gelling well to bring the ball down the court for Amy Knight (GA) and Juste Mockeliunaite (GS) to put some outstanding shots up and give Mars a lead of 13-11.

The next two quarters saw Mars sustaining their lead, keeping Minstrels on the back foot.

In the final quarter, Hana Middleton (GD) and Emily Harwood (GK) made it extremely difficult for Minstrels to get the ball into their attacking D, by making numerous interceptions meaning Mars won the game 48-33.

Impeccable shooting by Amy Knight gave her a well-deserved player of the match.
