THE semi-finals of the Quantock Vale Skittles League’s Les Burge W Cup took place this week, where the front pin is removed.

Both games were very tight but the closest match took place at the King’s Head between R and U’s and Stockland Club.

The lead changed hands three times before half-time when Stockland Club held a slim six-pin advantage.

R and U’s kept up the pressure throughout the second half and, by the penultimate hand, they trailed by a single pin.

Stockland Club hit 34 for their last hand, leaving R and U’s needing 35 to win but, with this format, that is easier said than done and they could only tie the final hand, so losing by a single pin.

At the Greyhound, league leaders Triards managed to keep their noses ahead of Dot’s Gang, leading by just four at the halfway point and, despite the Gang’s best efforts, Triards were able to stay ahead and won by six.
