Saturn 37, Gems 42

BRIDGWATER'S second team Saturn faced Sydenham's first team, Gems and Saturn knew they were up against tough rivals after losing by nine and 27 goals in the previous season.

From the first whistle Saturn went out fighting, GD Imma Matchem and captain GK Emma Cocks pressurised Gems attack making it difficult for them to settle, ending the first Saturn were only two goals down.

Saturn continued to play solid netball throughout the second quarter - with every team member playing with maximum effort, meaning they trailed behind by just one more goal at half-time.

GA Becky Palmer and GS Sarah Perry both capitalised on chances and their fabulous movement in the circle allowed them to put away the goals resulting in Saturn winning that quarter.

Saturn came out fighting in the last quarter just one goal down, but Gems stepped up their game in the final quarter and turnovers gave them the opportunity to pull ahead, ending the close game with just a five-goal difference.

Neptune 36, Parkfield 29

NEPTUNE came out with intent and great movement in the attacking circle and precise shooting from GS Kayl Haste and GA Morganne Dunn meant that Neptune finished the first quarter leading 11-4.

The second quarter saw some wild passes from the Neptune players which saw Parkfield capitalise to pull back to 17-14 at half-time.

Neptune extended their lead to 26-21 at the end of the third - and in the last quarter they held out to win 36-29.

Joint players of the match were Kayl haste, Sally Haysham and Lucy Brown Venus 79, Emeralds 15 AFTER a fantastic first quarter, Venus led 25-1 with some accurate shooting from Darcie Dunn and Hannah Setter.

Emeralds struggled to put up a defence against a stronger side, with defenders Emily Rossiter and Saskia Middleton stopping the ball getting to the circle.

Player of the match Hollie Cornish strengthened the centre court with Chris Shaw and Cath Clark ensuring an excellent final result of 79-15.

Mars 29, Spears 28

SATURDAY saw Mars take on Spears in a tense match in the fading light.

With a rushed warm-up combined with the chilly conditions, Mars had a weak start allowing spears to get ahead by four very quickly.

The second quarter saw Mars storm ahead thanks to some beautiful play from Chloe, Olivia Shorthouse (WA), Sophie Cornish (GS) and Cerys Ethridge (GA).

As the light faded play from both teams got panicked with turn over after turnover and it was anyone's game.

Mars kept their cool and with crucial interceptions from Hana Middleton (GK) and Hannah white (WD) in the last quarter we kept our lead until the final whistle.

Final score 29-28, player of the match went to Mary King.
