Clevedon Colts 8, North Petherton 19
NORTH Petherton Colts put on determined display against a good attacking opposition to beat Clevedon on Saturday.
Petherton defended strongly with Mac Taylor prominent throughout.
Pethy looked lively in attack with the backs attacking when possible and testing the home side’s defence.
Both teams used the ball well but Pethy just held the edge with key players leading by example. Pethy led at half time 8-12 with tries from Harry Gutteridge and Dan Frost, with Ben Freeman converting one.
The second half saw Pethy defending for long periods and they deserve praise for holding out the Clevedon strike runners–- the Pethy lads were queuing up to make vital tackles.
Clevedon looked like they would cross on a couple of occasions and only players putting their body on the line prevented a score.
When Pethy gained possession, they looked positive and scored another try through Frost, converted by Freeman.
The game ended on the Pethy line as the home side refused to give up – but Pethy, fighting for every inch, cleared their lines.
