THE top three sides in Division 1 of the Bridgwater Town Ladies’ Skittles League have pulled further away from the pack.

Leaders Castle Club A had five players hit over 60, topped by Pauline Culverwell 76, pulling on six of the seven hands to win by 52 pins over visitors Crown Inn A whose top player was Shelly Fidoe with 67.

Joint second are Market A who also pulled on six of the hands to win by 38 at home to Sydeham Centre A – top of the alley was captain Karen Purchase with 75 for the Market.

The other side in second, Blake Hall A, also had an easy win at Market B by 34s and are three points in front of fourth-placed GWR.

Club A pulled on all seven hands to home to win by 37 over Cross Rifles A.

In Division 2, British Flag A keep up their impressive form, winning at Commercial B by 60 and are three point clear at the top of the table as the Lion’s Club B lost at the Bird In Hand B.

When 14 pins up after five hands, they hit a disappointing 35 on their sixth to lose 12 and four more pins on the last to lose the match by two.

The other team in joint second, Bunch Of Grapes B, lost at home by 16 pins to Castle Club B who moved into forth spot West India House still top Division 3 with a home win on their hard Durleigh Road alley by 49 against Bridgwater Squib B.

Second placed New Foresters A also won at home by 19 against the Sportsman.

Third-place side Sydenham Centre B, playing at home, took advantage of new side Malt Shovel B, winning by 59, despite playing Mrs X, with their top three players scoring Carol Thornton 66, Jenny Melmouth 72 and highest Maureen Kirby 77.
