Bridgwater Ladies 5, ECVH 0

BRIDGWATER Ladies cruised to an impressive victory over ECVH on Saturday.

Bridgwater were slow to start and it took them until midway through the half to put a goal away, from Sheila Burridge, despite having the majority of the play.

The second half showed more promise and two goals were quickly scored from Joules Griffiths and Donna Cooper.

Pressure continued and several short corners were won.

Several more goalmouth scrambles followed and Jo Bromme was finally rewarded with her first goal of the season.

Minutes later, Millie Burridge made it five with a lifted sweep.

Player of the match was Donna Cooper and the win means Bridgwater jump up the table by two places.

Bridgwater Ladies II 1, Minehead 3

AFTER a drubbing by Minehead last season, Bridgwater II were ready to take the game to Minehead.

However, they were caught napping and, in the first five minutes, Minehead scored.

This woke Bridgwater and the girls played some determined hockey forcing a corner and, after a well-worked routine, Megan Weston brought the scores level.

Despite Heather Tinkler, Miche Evans, Emma Hill and Kat Male closing down the Minehead play and Bridget Hedaux stopping a corner strike on the line, the powerful Minehead forwards popped in another two goals.

Bridgwater A 2, Bath Buccs E 0

BRIDGWATER welcomed Bath Buccs to Chilton on Saturday. They opened the scoring when the ball was flicked into the net after a goalmouth scramble.

It remained 1-0 at half time – and the second half saw Bridgwater double their lead from the penalty spot, Harry Stephenson scoring after Corby was brought down by the visiting keeper.

Bridgwater 5th XI 0, Taunton CS 2nd XI 7

BRIDGWATER 5ths slumped to a heavy defeat at the hands of Taunton CS on Saturday.

Despite some early pressure and Michael Davidge coming close, it was all TCS traffic.

It was 3-0 quite quickly and 7-0 by half-time.

After the break, the defence of Steve Morrish, Geoff Banham, Harry Rose, Connor Gillespie, Lewis Coad and Kev Hicks all tackled well as Mark Hutter made some outstanding saves to deny the visitors another goal.
