Team Bridgwater College 54, City of Bristol Academy 52

HEAD coach Rich Anderson praised the efforts and attitude of his players as Bridgwater College secured their first ever victory over City Academy Bristol.

Trailing by ten points going into the fourth quarter, Bridgwater fought back to sneak a 54-52 victory – and Anderson was delighted with the result.

He said: “The players really gelled together today and we finally realised some of our potential.”

Team BC started well but there were still too many easy baskets missed – but Liam Vickery scored seven points of his own to help Bridgwater to a 15 point quarter.

Some occasional lapses on defence allowed City to take the lead by one point 15-16.

City Academy stepped up their level of defence and intensity in the second quarter and Bridgwater were at times overwhelmed by it.

Being 10 points down at the start of the fourth quarter, all five players on court put in the performance of their lives for those remaining 10 minutes.

Bridgwater were eating away at the lead and, with less than three minutes remaining, Liam Vickery hit a massive three-pointer to bring the scores level at 49 each.

From there, they clicked with the defence and it resulted in a spell of turnovers that Team BC managed to convert to points, giving them the lead and victory.
