Rubies 25 Abbies 48

RUBIES were dumped out of the knockout cup by Abbies on Saturday, despite starting well.

Some great interceptions from Rheanne Lee and Megan Buller - however, after some quick turn over’s from Abbies the first quarter ended 12-6 to them.

In the second quarter, Abbies overpowered Rubies and got a significant lead, although there was some brilliant shooting by Adele Ranford and Michelle Parr.

By the end of the quarter, Rubies had let their heads slip and tiredness get the better of them and the quarter ended 28-11.

The centre court connected better with some great passing and feeding into the circle from Sammie Brown, Kerry Clark and Hannah Willis.

The game ended with the score of 48-25 to Abbies which did not represent the hard work that the team had shown.

Gems 53, Saturn 29

SYDENHAM Gems took the inter-town bragging rights with a victory over Bridgwater Saturn in the cup.

Gems started off well with good play bringing the score to 15-7.

At the third quarter, Gems upped their game with good passing, lots of interceptions and movement from everyone.

There was some great shooting from our shooters, this was our best quarter of the game with the score 40-20.

Last quarter saw again Gems put the pressure on Saturn with interceptions, good shooting and working the ball around the court.

The second half was the best for Gems players, as they connected well with each other.

The defence worked brilliantly together tipping incoming balls in the opposition attacking circle making it difficult for their shooters.
