FIRST week of a new season and, in Division 1 of the Bridgwater Town Ladies’ Skittles League, last season’s top five all got off to a winning start.

Top shots this week were Sarah Haste, captain of Market D, and Allison Collard, of Castle Club A, both hit 73.

Last season’s champions, Market A, hit highest team score of the week with 437 and a 126-pin whitewash of Blake Hall B.

In Division 2, Julie Champion hit highest individual score this week with 64 but Commercial Inn A lost at home by just seven to GWR Club B whose top scorer was Mary Cresswell with 61.

Commercial Inn B also suffered the same fate, losing at Cross Rifles B by 11, despite Gill Greensides top scoring with 63.

Top shot in Division 3 was Lyn Marsh, 68, as the New Foresters A got off to a flying start to the season, winning away by 30, winning every hand to whitewash their host Bridgwater Squib A.

Sharon Askey was highest on the alley with 65 but her team, the Sportsman, lost away to Blake Arms A who dropped a division last year but must be one of the fancied for promotion.
