Gems 46, Swans 30

GEMS fought hard in Saturday's 46-30 victory over Swans.

Defensively, the whole team applied constant pressure on their opponents, forcing errors, which Gems then made the most of to take a comfortable lead.

Swans pulled back during the middle periods, but Beth Fella and Kerry Fellows dominated the circle forcing long balls from Swans and picking up rebounds and interceptions.

Gems controlled the game throughout to win their second game 46-30.

Rubies 20, Hendford 58

RUBIES were overpowered by their opponents as they crashed to a 58-20 defeat to Hendford.

The visitors took a 12-6 lead by the end of the first quarter - and this set the tone. Hendford weren't pressurised though and held their lead 43-16 by the end of the third.In the final quarter, Rubies worked hard to remain in possession of the ball and the tight defence helped them to do this.

Sapphires 20, Babylon 60 NEWLY promoted Sapphires had a tough first game against a strong Babylon. Rheanne Lee, Laura Coombes and Carly Martin worked very hard in defence and kept sapphires in the game up until half time.

Then Babylon's experience and determination on court proved too much for Sapphires and they extended their lead and won the game 60 -20.
