SPAXTON hockey player Simon Mantell helped England to Commonwealth bronze on Sunday as England beat New Zealand on penalties.
England fell behind in the first half, but then twice took the lead before being pegged back to 3-3.
It came down to penalties and after Blair Hilton and Simon Child saw their efforts saved, Ashley Jackson converted the winner for England.
Mantell, 30, started with hockey at Taunton Vale HC as a junior before moving to Millfield School in Street at age 11.
