Netball South-West Regional Under-16 League
Bridgwater 30 Randwick 41
DESPITE strong circle defence from Lucy Brown (GD) and Saskia Middleton (GK), top of the league Randwick made a confident start as Bridgwater failed to apply enough pressure to stop the visitor’s drive down the court.
Settling into their rhythm, Bridgwater outscored their opponents in the second quarter, precise circle feeds from centre Chloe Trout, combining with great teamwork and shooting from Morganne Dunn (GA) and Sophie Cornish (GS) to boost the team’s confidence.
Excellent centre court pressure enabled Gardener and Shorthouse to pull off vital interceptions, but these were squandered by careless passing the length of the court.
Randwick seized on Bridgwater’s errors and the three-goal margin the home side had pulled back to was soon a gap of eight.
Vociferous supporters urged the team on, inspiring captain and player of the match Lucy Brown to give her all to the final minute, but Randwick finally secured a hard fought victory.
Bench players: Emily Harwood, Hana Middleton and Jess Webb; coaches, Annia and Karis Holleron
