Bridgwater College's Men’s Football Development Squad beat their counterparts from Yeovil College 4-1 in the final of the Somerset Colleges’ knock-out cup, held at Wells City FC.
Bridgwater fell behind when Lewis Matthews gave away a penalty, but Dan Cooke soon equalised following a corner to make it 1-1 at half time.
A wave of second-half pressure finally told with John Pykett first nodding in from a Phil Hartnup free-kick, then beating the keeper after exchanging passes with Connor Watts.
After a superb move, England Colleges' midfielder Hartnup smashed a 25-yard volley into the top right corner to seal victory.
Afterwards, Jason Gunningham, director of the men’s football development squad, praised all his players. He said: “This was a fitting end to the season and the cup was won by the players sticking to the principles of play which we have coached them throughout the season.”
