Bridgwater Sports Reserves made it through to the last eight of the Intermediate Cup following a nine-goal thriller against Forton.
A superb Mike Skidmore goal put Bridgwater ahead after just 30 seconds.
Dean Organ doubled the advantage on 20 minutes before Forton pulled one back. A second from Skidmore and a Ben Fellows strike put Bridgwater 4-1 ahead at the break. After Forton pulled another goal back at the start of the second period, Organ added Bridgwater’s fifth, only for two more Forton strikes to make it 5-4. Bridgwater clung on after seven minutes of injury time.
While there was joy for the reserves, in Division One, champions Bridgwater Sports suffered a shock 3-1 loss to bottom side Locomotives.
Middlezoy Rovers are up to third after a 3-1 win at Nether Stowey. Andy Smith scored two and Dan Luce the other for Middlezoy; Jason Alexander replied for Stowey. All other games were postponed.
With Bridgwater Sports Reserves in cup action, Predators took the opportunity to snatch top spot in Division Two with a 6-2 win over White Hart Rangers.
Wembdon hammered Sampford Blues 6-1. Marvin Portlock hit a hat-trick; Danny Russell, Ali Witts and Brendan Pope from 40 yards added the others.
Mark Modley scored both Westonzoyland’s goals in their 2-2 draw with Watchet Town.
In Division Three, Mark Williams scored a brace in Middlezoy Rovers Reserves’ 2-2 draw with Old Inn Allstars.
Wembdon Saints lost 4-0 to bottom side Alcombe Rovers Reserves. In Division Four, Stogursey opened up a five point lead at the top after a 1-0 win over Nether Stowey Reserves thanks to a Matt Tooze strike.
Bridgwater Grasshoppers, still without a win, lost 4-0 to Staplegrove Colts.
Rhode Lane Wanders won 3-2 at Hamilton Hawks; Ben Patrick scored two of their goals with Ashliegh Glover adding the other.
North Petherton Reserves are also looking for their first win, after their 7-2 defeat to Milverton Rangers; Daniel Perks and Jack Sealey scoring Pethy’s goals.
