Dray "incredibly disappointed" by Clevedon defeat

Bridgwater Town manager Rob Dray was “incredibly disappointed” with his side's display in their 4-1 home defeat against Clevedon Town.

It was a third defeat in four games at Fairfax Park and Bridgwater now sit third from bottom in the Zamaretto League South and West Division One.

But Dray's side had the opportunity to put the defeat behind them and iron out problems in Saturday's 0-0 friendly draw with a strong Plymouth Argyle select XI at Fairfax Park.

He told the Mercury: “The game was a good work out and a useful exercise for the team.

“We want to forge links with a lot of clubs and we did that with Plymouth. They were impressed with our facilities and hospitality.

“We passed the ball really well and it was good to put last week's defeat behind us.

“I was incredibly disappointed with the Clevedon result. In all the teams I have played for and managed, I have always given passion. I did well on the pitch because I am enthusiastic and wanted it more but the team didn't show that last week.

“They didn't turn up but I know they have put it behind them.”

New loan signings Jordan Trott and Sean Kinsella played in the friendly and are set to play some part in this Saturday's FA Cup clash with Truro City.

Dray added: “The young lads played against Plymouth and look good.

“Truro away will be a great game to be involved in. They're the big spenders and the biggest non-league club in the South-West.

“We will go down there with a game plan and we will work on this in training.

“In cup games, anything can happen.”

“We are hoping to bring in a couple of new faces soon and I would like to strengthen some areas of the team. We need to stop leaking goals and keep clean sheets.”

Captain Chris Young and Mike Mackay are both doubts for the game against Truro City through injury.
