THE faces making up Bridgwater Town's first team may be new, but the passion, determination and drive remains the same, insists manager Rob Dray.
In the first of their pre-season friendlies, Bridgwater and came away with a 1-1 draw against Cadbury Heath on Saturday after losing ten players to Weston.
Dray said: “It's hard when you lose a whole team and have to start from scratch, apart from four or five players, but we're not a million miles away from being real competitors in the league.
“We know what we have and are aware that it's going to be a big challenge, but we are fit and there is no negativity at all.
“There may have been a lot of changes, but that's football and you have just got to get up and get on with it.
“This fresh start has given people some great opportunities. Fitness levels are good and the players have their heads up - it's all positive.”
Bridgwater may be in for a tough ride, but the fresh players - including old Town player Mike Mackay - are ready for the challenging season.
The new team will need the encouragement from supporters now more than ever as the prepare for their upcoming fixures.
Bridgwater's next friendly will be away against Royal Marines on Wednesday, before their first game at home against Cullumpton Rangers on Monday, July 26.
