Dray takes the reins after Robinson's departure

Bridgwater Town has been rocked again following the departure of joint manager Leigh Robinson – a decision which came just weeks after Craid Laird left for Weston.

Robinson was to share the role with reserves’ manager Rob Dray but he has now decided to take sole responsibility at his former club, Wellington.

Now, Dray will step into the role alone at Bridgwater, which will also see big changes in the squad.

A number of players – currently unnamed – are looking to follow Laird to Weston, leaving gaps in the team for new players.

Dray said: “There’s going to be a significant number of players going to Weston, primarily to play at a better standard.

“I have spoken to them all, and for them it’s an opportunity to move on.

“We’ll give two or three reserve players an opportunity to come and better themselves and have a go at it. We like progression.”

Dray said he has been inundated with calls from players wanting to join the ranks at Bridgwater.

He said: “Players interested in a place know we have a great, supportive following – and we are going to need them more than ever now.

“Players may come and go, but our supporters should know that we are going to be working really, really hard this season. It’s a bit daunting to follow in Craig’s footsteps – but very exciting at the same time.”

Bridgwater have now secured a first team coach in Steve Perkins from Minehead, who works for Somerset FA as a skills coach and is part-way through his UEFA A licence.

All these silly comments about Leigh Robinson are to be expected from the new manager and his followers. In truth Leigh never stood a chance at BTFC - he wasn't part of the 'Old Boy's Network'. As an 'outsider' he was never ever going to be given a chance of 'doing it his way' as they say.

Like many others, I feel that the club is going backwards with the latest managerial appointments and the chairman (and selected other committee persons) have shot themselves in the foot. How can any club expect to be treated with any credibility after appointing a manager with such a poor diciplinary record - 5 misconduct charges for arguing with refs in the last 2 seasons??? And it is only the gutlessness of the County FA that has let him off so lightly that has ended in this ridiculous appointment (or more likely the chairman's influence as a director of the said county FA!!!).

Jobs for the boys... that's all it is. Who will be next? Pete the Robin???

The above comments are doing the club no good whatsoever. You are all obviously people who are involved it the club in some capacity or other and this sort of stupidness is not what is needed at this time.

Craig's departure was sad but life has to go on with everyone pulling together for the cause. Whatever the rights or wrongs we must all be behind the club and pulling in the same direction.

wow it really seems that almost50 seems to have an almighty amount of information for a 'fan' how could he possible no the diciplinary record of the manager and his history of misconduct without being an officer of the club? it seems we may have someone on the inside who seems to be causing trouble when team spirit and togetherness in the club is needed. im sure that the chairman and the commitee have faith in the new management or they would not have appointed him as they have the clubs best wishes at heart. id keep your opinions to yourself almost50 as your knowledge seems too great for you to handle reponsibly. maybe a bit of dutch courage was to blame or england poor performance that you feel you have to express your feelings so openly. oh well up the england on wednesday

My name is Brian Austin and unlike those whose comments are posted above I am prepared to stand up and be named.
I was as dissapointed as anyone when Craig decided to join Weston but the reality is,that was his decision and we,the supporters of B.T.F.C., have to get on with life without him.Robbie and Millie have been appointed by the club to succeed Craig and Leigh and that is a decision we all have to respect.
I, for one, wish them well and I would hope the whole club unites behind them.
I would remind everyone that Craig and Paul (Rich) originally came from reserve team management and our first team success did not happen over-night.There was a period of consolidation before things started to come together and Robbie and Millie will,no doubt, give of their best in the cause of B.T.F.C. and we may all have to show a little patience as they re-build the squad.
The above posted comments can only harm the club and the individuals the comments are aimed at and will do nothing to enhance our reputation.
Please get behind the new management and the officers of the club.Stop this unnamed incognito and harmful comments and let us all get on with the work of promoting all that is good about Bridgwater Town Football Club.
Give Rob and Millie a chance to show what they can do and respect the decisions that have been made by those who work hard for our football club without reward.
B.A.
