BREAKING NEWS: Leigh Robinson leaves Bridgwater Town

Bridgwater Town joint manager Leigh Robinson has left the club to take up the reins of his former side Wellington.

Less than a fortnight after it was revealed he would be joined by Rob Dray as Bridgwater Town joint manager, Robinson has left Fairfax Park for a second spell at Toolstation premier outfit Wellington.

Wellington chairman Ken Bird said: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Leigh back to the fold.

“The experience he has gained during a year at Bridgwater will stand him in good stead for his return to the Toolstation League.

“He is a popular figure with the players and we are all looking forward to having him back in charge again.”

I for one would like to wish Leigh all the best in his new venture. Last season we enjoyed great success and so nearly the perfect season. To suggest he was only hanging on to Lairdys coat tails is ridiculous and I found that players there spoke very highly of him. He obviously isnt the type to shout and ball at players but then neither was Craig. Also I dont think training should be levelled at him as for my knowledge Craig does it all anyway, for both sides.I would never suggest this but if Craig thought Rob or Millie were any good, would he not have promoted them ages ago? Unfotunatley that argument doesn't stack up. Craig picked a succession of people over them - however I am sure there were legitimate reasons for that, as I am sure there are for Leigh not going to WSM. I think Rob and Kevin do deserve a chance and the fact that they are the clubs second choice doesn't mean I will support them any less, in these times of final pressure Iam sure they are the right two to appoint - come on you Robins and thanks for the memories Craig and Leigh

Ummmm an interesting comment coming from some one based in Taunton, how did ur home town do last season? Did u aviod relegation in the end?
My insde informant reckons, that Leigh was getting a little big for his boots, and was telling people it was his way or the highway.the club is going through tough times/development,an
d big ego's dont have a place at our beloved club.Im not sure how someone who isnt 30 and has never paid the game at any sort of standard can demand or expect to be anything other than a assistant?!
To say that the current joint managment are and i quote ''second choice'' amuses me as im led to believe that Wellington amoungst other clubs were exceptionly keen on securing the services of our joint 1st team managment.
It seems to me that u have ur loyalties and postcodes confused my Tauntonian friend.

To be honest as a long standing supporter and having seen the club in very dark days i am not to worried about the future. We have a great squad, a great reserve team, lots of young players, big gates and decent budget. I would have liked to Leigh to stay as he has a very good track record but like you I think Rob deserves a chance. I am also not worried about gossip only facts.Leigh has made his choice and teh club have to get on with it as they did with Craig. Facts are Craig is our best ever manager. Fact to that Craig and Leigh were joint managers last year as we finished in our highest league position.Fact also that success this year is the play offs nothing else.As double double champions the ressies are more than good enough to step into any departing first team shoes and I for one (of 350) believe we can get up this season.Time for the talking to stop. Mr Dray has his one chance. Hope he takes it

I been a BTFC fan for the last 20 or so years and i have experienced the good times and not so good times, ive met and chatted with all the managers in this time and not ONCE was i made to feel welcome or valued as a supporter in the presence of Lee Robinson,it seemed like he had a persona of 'im better than u,because i won the Bill Brown cup with Wellington'.
Good bye,good luck,good ridence.
Roll on the RD-KM era with decent sociable down to earth chaps!
Cooooome on yooooouuuuu Redddds!
