THE only ducks featured in our cricket matches this weekend were of the feathered type, swimming on puddles in the outfield as persistent torrential rain ruined any hopes of action with bat or ball.

All the West of England Premier Cricket Leagues were cancelled meaning Bridgwater's clash with defending champions Bath, Ashcott and Shapwick's meeting with Warminster and Gloucester City Wingets, and Wembdon's home clash with Uphill Castle.

In the Somerset Shrubbery League, not a ball was bowled on Saturday meaning Division 1 side's North Petherton and Middlezoy cancelled their matches with Wellington and Purnells.

North Newton's home match to Castle Cary was abandoned in Division 2 to keep them in mid-table and Bridgwater 'A' had to cancel their Division 3 match with Burnham, leaving them in fifth spot.

In Division 4, Wembdon 2nds, who sit third, against Wellington 2nds and mid-table Kilve, who were due to travel to Cheddar, were both called off.

Bridgwater Sports remain rooted to the foot of the Division 6 table after their match with Bishops Lydeard was deluged.

Division 8S saw Spaxton, North Petherton 2nds, Chilton Polden, Middlezoy 2nds and Wembdon Wyverns have their matches called off and in Division 9NW, Wembdon Academy and Chilton Polden 2nds saw their matches also fall foul to the weather.
