North Petherton fell 12 runs short of another win against Belvedere as Staplegrove leapfrog them at the top of the Somerset League Division One.
Belvedere posted 139-6 on a wicket not conducive to free-flowing runs, as opening batsman N. Chadwick ground out a gritty 34.
S. McCrea hit a crucial 28 not out to help Belvedere reach what proved to be a winning total. P. Thurston took 2-36 and there was one wicket apiece for L. Knight, J. White, T. Gibbs and L. Irish snr.
North Petherton lost a couple of early wickets to A. Loud but good contributions from Harry Bowditch (29) and Tom Williams (57) looked to be guiding their side over the winning line.
But R. Watts (4-37) and McCrea (3-18) routed the middle and lower order to skittle North Petherton for 127.
