DESPITE a magnificent 115 from Andy Hallaran, Bridgwater disappointingly lost to lowly Corsham as the league's rain regulations assisted the side batting second.
With rain clouds gathering, Bridgwater were inserted but a superb opening stand of 102 between Hallaran and Mike Coles set up an excellent run rate.
With the score on 182-4 off only 37 overs the players were driven from the field by the heavy rain, resulting in an hour and eight overs per side lost.
This left the visitors only five overs to complete their innings but they struggled on the damp pitch which aided the Corsham bowlers and closed on 210-8, when a score well in excess of 260 would have resulted without any interruption.
Corsham got off to a good start themselves with the openers putting on 59 in 10 overs but Bridgwater upped their game and started to take regular wickets, eventually reducing the home side to 151-6, needing 60 off the last eight overs.
Another breakthrough didn't come however as Morrison and Bullen rode their luck, putting on the 60 required with an over to sprare, to take them to a crucial win and leaving the visitors requiring other sides to help them in the quest for the Championship.
Bridgwater were also in cup action in the Cockspur Area 20/20 Finals Day. They beat Exmouth in the semi-finals but lost to Cornish side St. Just in the final. See the full match report in this week's Bridgwater Mercury.
