North Petherton completed their league campaign in style at Heathfield Park on Saturday, and in the process inflicted a crushing defeat on recent promotion contenders Taunton Outcasts and Radiac.
North Petherton elected to field first and opened their bowling with the lively Tim Gibbs who wasted no time in dismantling the Radiac top order.
The first wicket actually fell in the very first over as Gibbs bowled with an accurate line and length at good pace.
This caused the Radiac batsmen no end of problems as he subsequently went on to take the first five wickets to fall.
From the bottom end and bowling into a brisk wind, Keith Williams frequently beat the bat with his late swing but couldn’t find that elusive edge early doors.
It was however to be a day that Radiac will want to forget as Williams eventually started to emulate Gibbs wicket taking ability, ripping the Radiac batting to shreds and ultimately condemning them to a disheartening 28 all out.
Gibbs returned truly excellent figures of six wickets for 22 runs off of his nine overs, while Williams bagged four wickets for just a miserly five runs off of his 8.5 overs - one of those wickets coming from a scintillating catch by Ian Hucker at first slip.
Due to the Radiac innings having concluded so prematurely North Petherton were now required to bat before tea could be taken.
Brothers Lewis (19 not out) and Owen Irish (12 not out) then needed just 19 deliveries to bring about North Petherton’s most emphatic league victory for some years.
Petherton picked up the maximum 35 points to finish third in the league and Radiac received just one point as they slipped to fourth place.
