However, with the runners up spot already secure, it has been a very successful season for the young side.

On winning the toss, Bridgwater should have made more of the helpful conditions, but inconsistent bowling led to a massive 32 wides.

This helped the home reach a useful 170-7 with Andy Davis playing a dogged innings of 52 not out, which was a match winning effort.

For Bridgwater, Scott Clapp picked up three wickets and there were two wickets for Dan Andison.

Mike Skidmore bowled a fine spell of seam bowling without reward.

Bridgwater lost Dave Hallaran early, however Mitch Windsor (20) and Tom Clarke (20) built a good partnership of 34 for the second wicket, to put their side in control.

The introduction of off spinner Rich Foley was the turning point, as he achieved exaggerated turn from the wicket, which seen the majority of the Bridgwater batting struggle.

Bridgwater collapsed to 84-8, with only captain Scott Sealey showing the application required to play a match winning innings. Fortunately he found a useful partner in Mike Skidmore, who played a very honest innings, and supported his captain in achieving some respectability for the side.

With 60 required from the final 6 overs, Sealey was caught on the long on boundary for a hard fought 21, however Skidmore (22 not out) and Chris Singleton saw their side to an extra batting point, the visitors eventually being bowled out for 125.

The club congratulates all the players who have worked hard for the 2nds this season to achieve the runners up positions in both league and cup.
