Wembdon Cricket Academy 153-9 beat Huish and Langport 140 all out by 13 runs
STRONG batting and bowling saw Wembdon Academy narrowly beat Huish and Langport on Saturday.
Wembdon lost the toss and were put into bat against a strong Huish and Langport team, and after a slow start the innings picked up thanks to a partnership of 72 between Matt Wardle (33) and Duncan Wardle (33).
But when both batsmen got out, Wembdon faltered and only managed to reach a competitive total of 153 for 9 thanks to Jerry Wardle (25) and Rob Morrish (15).
The pick of the Huish bowlers was B Robinson with figures of 4-19.
In reply, two early wickets put Huish under pressure, before some good batting from M Vick (42) and G Reeves (33).
But some fantastic bowling from Paul Cook (4-21) and Tyler Fagan (4-24) - backed up by some excellent catching - saw Huish dismissed for 140.
